Alien Arena 2007 is a free, multiplayer first person shooter for the PC. There's nothing spectacular about Alien Arena, it is a clone made from multiple other games. But if you've lost your Quake 3 Arena key and don't want to buy a new one, Alien Arena will suit your needs quite well.
The game has the standard in-game browser for quick online/LAN action. Sure, the game has single player, but so does Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament, and we know how enjoyable those are. There are newer versions of Alien Arena out there, but the 2007 version is "lacking" in-game advertisements; one less thing for your firewall to block. And the core of the gameplay hasn't changed all that much since the game was first released in 2004.
Out of the box, this version features 30+ maps, 11 character models, 9 weapons with alt-fire, and a grappling hook-- that's right, a grappling hook, we all had that Batman fantasy too. You can select from seven gameplay modes: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, All Out Assault (Deathmatch with spaceships), DeathBall (CTF with only one flag, er, ball), CattleProd (you round up robot cattle, no seriously), and Team Core Assault (think Control Points in TF2, but you destroy the points). To add texture to the gameplay, there are mutators very similar to those in Unreal Tournament: instagib, rocket arena, excessive, low gravity, regen, and vampire.
